The Cabalists
[GUILD LEADERS]
Guildmaster: Neoma
Divine Patron: Niuri, the Ultraist
Secretaries: Eleanor, Akaryuterra, Haedyn, Taelyndara,
Sinori, and Sharta
Seven-hand: Haedyn
As a Guild of scholars, the Cabalists strive to obtain vast and deep knowledge in all aspects of life, in the hope that one day they will achieve the intellectual prowess of the ancient Ankyrean Order. Their studies are shrouded in secrecy from the rest of Aetolia, for the Cabal understands that knowledge is power, and those who direct their efforts towards this knowledge deserve to reap the benefits.
The Cabalists' characteristic skills are those of Numerology, a lore based on the numbers and the mystical powers they contain. Their research into the dark arts of Necromancy rewards them with the ability to deal with death and decay in their purest forms. Finally, their abilities in Domination permit them to call upon the service of Chaos entities to aide them in combat, as long as they can coerce the Chaos Lords into pacts, by bribery or by force.
The ways of Numerology had been lost since the time of the Grand Artifice at the end of the Second Mortal Epoch, until Eocik, a wayward farmer of Spinesreach, found a cache of forgotten Ankyrean scrolls in the City's catacombs. By contemplating numbers in correct combinations, the Cabalists elicit various abilities to aide them in their ongoing struggle to rekindle the Ankyrean legacy.

A Brief History
The Cabalists have a messy, convoluted history filled with alts, metagaming, and a whirlwind of revolutions and counter-revolutions. Every time it happens there's an upswing in activity, and then a gradual decline back into apathy until someone is inactive enough to be overthrown again. The most recent coup was orchestrated by Ezrax with Elene as the figurehead and Ashmer and Prism along for the ride. As soon as Elene got Conduit status, Prism outguilded everyone who could possibly be seen as a threat to the new leadership. Not too long after that, Ashmer challenged for Conduit (a step up from his then status as attack-dog). When that failed he flounced and tore out half of the scrolls as he left. Some people got brought back in, and the Cabal got more stable. Then Prism left the Cabal, again, Elene went crazy and was replaced by Ezrax who then went craz(ier), and Sryaen arrived somewhere in there to take the reins. Sryaen did a solid job, the Cabal seeing some good internal activity, but then stepped down, giving Akaryuterra his first go at the role. Akaryuterra then went pretty inactive and was contested by Elene, and became GM. However, Anya apparently took control in some sort of clique related shift of power I'm sure. Leadership will probably continue to jump around due to inactivity and random members going crazy, until somebody else will have to take over.
